Swinton Group Limited is an insurance broker located in the UK and is owned and operated by La Mutuelle du Mans Assurance IARD (MMA Insurance), a French insurance company. Swinton began in 1957 when Ken Scowcroft started the business in his home. The first premium cost only 5 and he sold roughly 100 policies for his customers in the first year. In 1991, his family sold it the business to Sun Alliance and ten years later, it was purchased by MMA Insurance.

On 5 June 2002, Swinton bought Colonnade Insurance Brokers and added their outlets to Swinton’s already-operating 260 branches. The brands merged and became known as Swinton Colonnade. Swinton bought additional companies in 2006, 2007 and 2009. The business compares rates from providers in the UK and provides quick results to consumers.
